Summer
2005
You might have thought that the Summer 2005
edition of the STRAY Newsletter was 'all in your mind' and
would never actually happen, but at last we're getting a
'move on'.
That's a bit of a clue to the first news item we've got
for you... Yes, thirty five years after the original STRAY
album was released, we are proud to say that Sanctuary Records
are re-issuing it on cd - and what's more, there will be
four bonus tracks!
Bonus
Tracks
There is quite a story behind the bonus tracks.
'Change Your Mind' was written and recorded in the same
sessions, and was intended to be included on the album first
time round, but was left off.
The other three tracks are from an audition tape which was
recorded in 1968 but was thought to have been taped over,
as was the practice back then when tapes were expensive
and regularly re-used.
John Schroeder, who was the Simon Cowell of his day, was
looking to put together a 'boy band'. STRAY were certainly
a boy band at the time - the average age was only 16!
These three tracks, including one called Outcast, are seeing
the light of day for the very first time.
Dean
Rees
In other STRAY news, we are pleased to report
that keyboard player Dean is on the mend after an horrific
accident.
See The Stray Newspage
for more details about this.
And as we said on the News page... seriously.... please
do NOT try this at home.
